Richard had a long and distinguished career in business and as a trustee of Arts Charities. Notable commercial posts included President/CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising Worldwide, Founder/CEO of a leading US group of marketing companies and Founder/Chair of Affle, a global technology company publicly listed in Asia.

Richard advised some of the World’s leading media companies. He worked with BBC World and television broadcasters in Russia and Japan, film and television production studios in the US and Mexico and for many years he represented institutional shareholders as Chairman/NED of various companies in the UK.

Richard was the founding chairman of The Outcry Ensemble and remained our chairman throughout the organisation's history. We were shocked and deeply saddened by his sudden passing a few weeks ago. Richard played an immeasurable role in shaping the orchestra and was instrumental in helping transform it from an ambitious idea into the thriving professional organisation it has become today. His wisdom, sound judgement, generosity and good humour were a constant source of support, and he had a remarkable ability to bring people together whilst always keeping sight of what mattered most.

It is no exaggeration to say that the wonderful Outcry family that exists today owes a great deal to Richard's leadership and belief in what the orchestra could become. He was also a personal mentor and friend to me, and his loss leaves a void that will be impossible to fill.
